Placentia Corridor Rail Separation Projects by Carl@Trainweb.com

Placentia, California, Grade Separations becoming a Reality

Thanks to Proposition 1B, which passed in 2006, much of $408 million will be spent for Under- and Over-passes in Placentia.

With the number of trains through Placentia, Fullerton, and Yorba Linda increasing from 75 a day now to 130 a day by 2030, Eric Neff, Staff Writer for the Orange County (California) Register,  reports on the funding for Under- and Over-passes in Placentia. The City alone failed to get more than one underpass built in a plan to lower the tracks in the Placentia Corridor.

In a project to start in September, 2010 and last beyond January, 2013, the start date of the last project, the following seven under- and over-passes will be built:

Underpasses (automobiles going under the railroad tracks as is the case in the new Melrose St. crossing) will be built at the following intersections with the BNSF line through Fullerton, Placentia, and Yorba Linda:

State College Boulevard starting in Sept., 2010; Placentia Avenue starting in January, 2011; Kraemer Boulevard starting in February, 2011; and Raymond Avenue, starting in January, 2013.

Overpasses (automobiles going over the railroad tracks, such as in the current Imperial Highway project) will be built at the following intersections with the BNSF line:

Orangethorpe Avenue, starting in February, 2011;  Lakeview Avenue, starting in April, 2011; and Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive starting in January, 2011.
