Since each lecture and wine tasting was
standing room only in the 40-seat Parlour Car, I felt I knew what the
passengers in the sleeping cars felt about Richard's commentaries and
wine tasting expertise. So, I felt confident when I asked some
passengers to give me a quote about their Parlour Car experience, that
it would be positive. Check it out:
Bob and Becky Graham, traveling with Bob's mother, Jean, said:
Our
trip was nicely colored by Richard's wine talk which gave clarity to
the leg, and allowed us to appreciate the bouquet with the buzz.
(I think Bob and Becky will be replacing me as a reporter for TrainWeb
with such eloquence!)
Eileen, from Bellingham, WA, appreciated Richard's knowledge of wines,
buying a few bottles as gifts, being a generation behind me, simply
said,
He's a Hoot!
Waiter Steve said, when he overheard us at dinner discussing how well
Richard
does his job said:
That guy is the best, I've known
him for over 20 years!
I had dinner with Cecil and his wife, from Reno, and he said of Richard:
He is interesting!
I asked what he meant by "interesting" and he said that he was born in
California and had been to Shasta many times, but didn't know all the
information that Richard imparted.
Yours truly:
I learned so much from Richard on this trip
that I feel I have taken a couple of college
courses! He is so informative, both in his commentaries of the
sights we pass, and during the two wine tasting sessions per trip.
Richard came highly recommended, but I had no idea it would be this
enjoyable traveling with him as our Parlour Car Attendant on the Coast
Starlight from Los Angeles to Seattle.
