2000 Annual Report Highlights

Highlights of the last year have included:
- Heritage train restoration project.
- Lottery Board grants received for F 13 restoration and sprinklers in the carriage shed.
- Two buildings were donated by Fulton Hogan.
- Francis Mining donated 5 tons of coal for Labour Weekend running.
- Tranz Rail donated some tracksets and a turnout in exchange for storage of EO locomotives.
- A four figure sum was raised from the sale of scrap rail to Orana Park.
- A co-operative arrangement is being negotiated with the Weka Pass Railway.
- Two carriages have been leased to the Papanui Station Restaurant and Waimea Plains Railway.
- The crossing keepers hut has been restored and relocated.
- Lyttelton Port Company donated money to be used for signalling.
- Carriage shed roof was repaired after damage caused by the October storm.
- Electric overhead has been extended to Truscotts Bridge and the Moorhouse platform.
Plans for the coming year include:
- Finish heritage train project.
- Finish F 13 restoration.
- Close in the front of the carriage shed.
- Waipara Vintage Festival.
