F13's Boiler Requires Major Work
19/4/2002
The boiler of F 13, which was sent away to an engineering firm for repairs, has been returned to Ferrymead as major unexpected work is required on the firebox. A check by the boiler inspector found that the inner firebox has wasted away, and a new firebox will be required.
The boiler returned to Ferrymead late in March pending further funding applications to raise the five figure amount that the new firebox is expected to cost. Once funding has been secured the new firebox will be manufactured, probably by the same engineering company.
