Canterbury Railway Society Inc News Ferrymead Railway Runs Three Trains For Tourists 9/3/2002 On the 9th of March, an English party of railway enthusiasts visited Ferrymead Heritage Park. The Society ran three trains for them: railcar RM 56, a passenger train and a mixed goods train, with locomotives DE 1429 and W 192 taking turns with the two trains. The tour party was very impressed with our site and the operation that day and increased the size of their donation to us. As we struggle to cover our costs on an average running day, the additional expense of running a steam train and extra trains was well worth the charter fee. There will be another tour party from the same organiser visiting the Park on 9th April and a similar operation is planned. This will be after the end of our normal running season. Photo Gallery |
