Locomotive & Rolling Stock Restoration - November 2001
24/11/2001
- D 140: 26 new stays are being fitted to the boiler. Some welding is also required. Side tank construction continues. The new stays have been rivetted into place (a very noisy process).
- RM 56: Graffiti has been painted out and the paintwork tidied up. A full repaint will not be carried out until the railcar can be put under cover away from further vandalism.
- Manning-Wardle: This diminutive steam engine (nicknamed "Kermit" because of its green colour), which last ran at Ferrymead in the early 1980s, is being cosmetically restored for possible display in the Hall of Wheels.
- D 26: Interior framing and panelling are being attended to. First coat of paint has gone onto exterior.
- F 624: Exterior red and black paint has been applied.
- TR 156: Thermostats being replaced. Engine oil changed. Leaking injectors repaired.
- RM 51: Engine overhaul continuing.
