11/1/2002
- D 140: The second side tank is nearly complete. A local engineering firm is being engaged to fit the remaining stays and retube the boiler. The boiler is the major work now required on the locomotive and is expected to take up much of 2002.
- RM 51: The engine is being dismantled in preparation for the fitting of refurbished engine parts in February. The main work is to replace the big end bearing shells which are to be remetalled.
- D 26: The roof is presently being worked on.
- F 624: Detail painting (handrails etc) being completed.
- WD 357: The boiler certificate runs out at the end of February pending the loco's 10 year overhaul so we will be without a major steam locomotive of our own until D 140 is completed. The Executive is looking at the possible use of other locomotives in the meantime. 357 will run every Sunday in February and steam in general will be operated until the end of Easter.
