Canterbury Railway Society Inc News General News - August 2001 28/8/01 Price CB 113 has been test steamed and received final inspection by the boiler inspector. The loco had some work done on it for its annual survey. It left on 23rd August for McLeans Island "Steam Scene" where it will run on the 1st/2nd of September. Painting on LB 4803 is almost complete. The wagon is now looking very smart in its coat of high gloss red oxide, with some detail work painted black. A large quantity of signal parts have arrived on site ex Tranz Rail. The carriage shed has had a canopy completed at the side entrance where gates are to be fitted. Patterns stored in the rear of the shed are being sorted. WD 357 has had work and tests carried out on the airbrake system. The leaf springs on the axles could not be reset, so new springs have been fitted. The batteries in TR 156 have been replaced. This should reduce the problems experienced in starting this locomotive. Plans for repairing or replacing the water vat are being looked at. The vat which came from Rangiora station requires some of the woodwork replaced. The boiler of F 13 has left by truck for Lyttelton Engineering to have repairs carried out.
