Canterbury Railway Society Inc News General News - August / September 2000 29/9/00 A trailerload of building materials has arrived from Fulton Hogans for unloading. The Society was fortunate to be donated the three buildings and members have been occupied for months dismantling them for relocation to Ferrymead. New rulebooks and Working Timetable have been issued. Also, new qualification cards are being distributed to members. TR 22 is currently in the workshop for general repairs. Also, EO 3 made an unexpected visit to the workshop last month when the rod connecting the two bogies together fell off. (The loco has Bo+Bo wheel arrangement meaning that the bogies are coupled together.) The old RM 1 "Red Terror", latterly an overhead inspection vehicle, is being assessed for restoration by the Electric Traction section. Price CB 113 will be operated on six days of the current school holidays. Because only a second grade ticket is needed to run the loco, it is easier for us to get drivers for it during the holidays. Our track gang was hard at work at Truscotts Curve on the 28th of September. A number of sleepers were replaced and skewed joints were corrected by realigning the rails. A number of dropped joints have also been lifted and packed. |
