Canterbury Railway Society Inc News General News - January 2001 27/1/2001 Repairs have been completed to the carriage shed roof that was damaged in the October windstorm. The sprinkler system in the shed is almost completed and should be in operation soon. Plans to close the carriage shed completely in have gained new impetus with several recent graffiti attacks upon our vehicles. An architect is to draw plans for the new doors at the front of the shed, to enable costings to be obtained so that we can make a funding application. Wednesday evening work parties have resumed for the summer. Tranz Rail have supplied us with a turnout and several lengths of track, in exchange for storing the five EO locomotives at Ferrymead. The track arrived on rail wagons and was unloaded on site, then the wagons were returned to the end of our line to be collected by Tranz Rail. Since the track arrived, the team have been busy building the new track into road 6 of the carriage shed. Our operating procedures for staff have been updated and rule books, etc, amended. |
