Trains in December 2011

December 8th-16th, 2011; central Wisconsin, USA.
No real amount of snow around here. Not a typical winter yet.

An orange EJE is still around Plover and Stevens Point.
It was operating west of Plover, too.

The Wisconsin River was almost frozen once after this picture, then the weather came back up to the 30's for a day.
People were ice fishing on the quiet ponds in the area, but the ice was maybe just 2 inches thick.

.

.

There was one sunny day in Wisconsin Rapids, and a switch job parked during lunch.

.

And in Weston there's some UP coal train power laying over.

.

.

The WC 1565 sw1500 is around Wisconsin Rapids, and it's still in WC colors.
Is that the last one that hasn't been repainted to CN colors?
I didn't get pictures of it twice, the batteries were too cold to keep the camera alive. .

.

There's bad news from two businesses in central Wisconsin.

Wausau Papers of Brokaw, Wisconsin, announced they will close by the end of March, 2012.
Neenah Paper plans to incorporate the work now being done at the Brokaw paper mill into its plants in Appleton, Neenah and Stevens Point.
That's not good news for Brokaw. .

.

SNE Enterprises of Mosinee, the door and window manufacturer, is closing.
Operations will remain at the headquarters in the Medford WeatherShield plant.
