With the sun still not shining into the canyon, I came across the first
train of the day, the UP 3887 at Camp Rodgers, CA. The scanner soon came to life
and I found out there would be a 3 way meet here in the next 1/2 hour. Cool!
I found out later that the reason for the three way meet was the plan by the UP
to close down the tracks for the next 6 hours to work on a derailment site from
the day before. So this would really be the only trains for the whole day in
this area. Luckily 2 were headed my way and I figured I could bounce between
them for the trip to Portola.
