An early morning derailment on Tuesday, April 27, damaged fourteen cars from
a BNSF train in Caliente, California.
According to reports, BNSF train H-BARPAS1-27, enroute from Barstow, California
to Pasco, Washington, experienced an undesired emergency brake application at
approximately 05:00 PST.
Inspection of the train found that fourteen cars were derailed in a zig-zag
manner approximately 25 miles east of Bakersfield. The derailment completely
blocked the single main track at the site.
Crews worked expeditiously to restore service and BNSF reported that the single
main track was returned to service by 17:00 PST the same date.
