This page was created
to highlight my one and only capture of the UP 6936, the Centennial. As
part of Union Pacific Railroad's heritage fleet, this locomotive is used
today to pull special passenger trains around the UP system as an ambassador
of the railroad. It remained the final piece of the UP heritage fleet that
I had not been fortunate enough to witness in mainline action. The other
members of the fleet have their own pages here at Railroad Crossings, (UP
3985 and UP
951) and I am extremely happy to fill the fianl piece of the puzzle
now with this page.
This page represents a
small portion of a much larger system tour through several states in the
western US in late Aug, 2002. The date I caught her was on Aug 23, 2002
in Caliente, NV, where I then followed through the
Meadow
Valley Wash to Las Vegas, NV. I would have followed the next day over
Tehachapi, but there was another
conflicting event that I felt was more important to attend. I'll hopefully
have another chance to see this beauty in action and to help this page
grow.
So please enjoy the photos
of the 6936 running through one of the gems of western US railroading,
the Meadow Valley Wash! Click on a Thumbnail to View
