Arizona Eastern (AZER) primarily serves the Phelps-Dodge copper mining operation at Globe/Miami, Arizona. They operate 135 miles of former SP track in SE Arizona; interchanging with UP at Bowie, AZ.

They were part of Rail America, until RA sold AZER to Iowa Pacific Holdings'subsidiary Permian Basin Railways in December 2004, which in turn agreed to sell to Genesee & Wyoming in 2011.
