GN 1147 at Wenatchee, WA, 9/14/23. Built by Rogers in 1903,
it served primarily in mainline freight service in it's early years. GN
purhased 125 of these 2-8-0 "Consolidation" loco's from 1902 to 1907 and
many worked into the 1950's. 1147 was retired from active service in
the early 1950's. One other of this class survives.

GN 2584 at Havre, MT, 8/30/01. 1 of 20 built by Baldwin in
1929-30, these [GN S-2 class loco's] were the most modern of GN steam locomotives.
Built for heavy passenger and Fast Mail service; they did find their way
into fast freight service after they were bumped from passenger duty by
dieselization. 2584 is the only survivor of it's class.

GN 2523 at Willmar, MN, 11/07/18. Built by Baldwin in 1923,
it pulled the premier Oriental Limited until succeeded by the Empire Builder
and the larger 4-8-4 locomotive class (See #2584). 2523 worked in
Fast Mail and freight service until 1955 and in 1965 was donated to the
Kandiyohi County Historical Society in Willmar.

GN 3059 at Williston, ND, 11/01/07. Built in 1913, it served in
freight service system wide. GN bought 145 of these 2-8-2 "Mikado" locomotives
from 1911 to 1919, and all but 2 (wrecked) served into the 1950's.
3059 was retired in 1957 is the sole survivor of its type.
