The Iron Belle
Trail from the Montreal River in Ironwood, MI, is part of a planned
non-motorized trail across the Upper Peninsula
of Michigan and eventually extending all the way to Detroit.
This western part is former SOO LINE right of way which served the iron mining industry in Michigan's Upper Peninsula from the 1890's until the 1960's. This section from Ironwood to Bessemer, MI, parallels Snowmoble Trail #2, the former CNW rail line which also served iron mines in Gogebic County, MI. |
