Dispatcher - We have a problem
The locomotive below is being returned to Chicago on Amtrak #8 [Empire Builder] after blowing the prime mover the evening before on Amtrak #7. Most of the 400-500 gallons of crankcase oil was apparently blown out the exhaust stack covering the entire train with oil gunk!  The locomotive was running front 1st when the engine failed,  and  back end 1st on this return trip photo.  The direction of oil smears; show it was still leaking oil!
