My name is Dan MacKellar and I've been a model railroader for over 30 years. I also have an interest in battery operated train sets. I'm a big fan of the Japanese made train sets by Haji, but in trying to find information on the web, there was very little. There are some references out there for individual train toys, but I found the information on sets to be very limited. I hope to make this site a database for collectors and those interested in battery operated trains.
I don't even hope to come close to a full database, as there are many sets currently being produced for mass market by overseas manufacturers. My focus for this site is mainly train sets produced before 2000, but even then, the list of sets and manufacturers is almost endless.
What I don't plan to include however are Geotrax and Pla-Rail/Thomas Trackmaster train sets. There are enough resources out there for those and you can find links for both in my 'links' page.
This site is a work in progress, so please bear with me as it may be a bit rough around the edges.
To try and get some order, I've split the site into four sections; Large scale battery trains, 'O' scale and smaller onboard power trains, cable trains and track powered trains. There is also a links page with various links around the web to other battery operated train sites I've found.
For discussion on battery operated train sets, I've created a Yahoo Group for this topic. The link is at the bottom of the page.
