Amtrak's roster of passenger cars has changed a lot since the early days when it was a mix of different railroads' equipment. A familiar sight in the Northeast, the Amfleet cars, now in their fifth Amtrak paint scheme, have been around since the late-70's. The Heritage Fleet has been rebuilt from other railroads' cars, and the Superliners have been around almost 20 years. Also on the current roster are Horizon series cars, similar to Comet commuter cars, which are used primarily in the Midwest.
