Amtrak "Texas Eagle" -- the endangered species route --
Summary of Train [SOT] report showing advance reservations as of 12-17-1996
Figures (below) are maximum coach + maximum sleeper loads for #21/#22 as of December 17, 1996.
These figures are the "peak" ridership, the point of maximum load which is useful as an indicator of sold-out conditions. Exact numbers vary depending on configuration of cars in the consist, but coach accommodations are considered sold out above 210 passengers, and sleeper accommodations are considered sold out above 70 passengers. The coach and sleeper accommodations are already sold out on a number of dates. Since Amtrak has belatedly decided to operate an extra sleeper, an extra coach could also be operated with no additional staffing. [One coach attendant can oversee two coaches; there are already two attendants for the three coaches on the Eagle. The second assistant conductor will already be in place because of the third sleeper, thus the incremental cost of operating an extra coach would be negligible.]
The dates are the date of origin for each train (Chicago or Los Angeles).
