No. 2 was built in Toledo, OH by Craig Shipbuilding Company. It was owned by Toledo, Ann Arbor, & Northern Michigan Railroad Co, and was launched on December 7, 1892 from Frankfort, MI to Kewaunee, WI. It was 264.16 ft in length, the beam 53 ft, and its draft 14.16 ft. The ship's tonnage gross was 1144, net 572, had two decks, and the hull was wood, design speed speed of 14 knots.
Her hull was strengthen before launching due to problems on No. 1
In 1896 her forward screw and the engine was removed later and used in AA No. 3.
The Ferry was rebuilt in Milwaukee June-October 1906.
Used as a spare boat after AA No. 5 was added in 1910.
In 1913, No.2 was retired from the Ann Arbor fleet, and sold to Manistee Iron Works, Manistee, MI (1914-1916). It was converted to a sand barge (tonnage: 1444 gross/1444 net).
In 1916, it was sold to United Fuel & Supply Company in Detroit, MI (1916-1924) where its name was changed to Whale.
From 1924-27, it was owned by William Nicholson, Detroit, MI, and in 1927 collision with bulker WILLIAM E. COREY, it sank, with its cargo of sand and was abandoned on the St. Clair flats.
