Ride The Nevada Southern Railway In The Cab Of A GP30

Former Union Pacific GP30 #844 which was the locomotive being used the day I visited the railroad. When UP took
delivery of this unit in 1963, it had to re-number the steam locomotive #844 to #8444 until this unit's retirement.

Looking west towards Henderson and Las Vegas from the station in Boulder City.

Crossing Yucca Street in Boulder City.

Approaching a bridge over a dry creek bed.

Approaching the bridge over Veterans Memorial Drive.

Very interesting view of the railroad from the cab!

Continuing west paralleling the bike path that goes over Cascata Road.

Approaching one of the crossings of the River Mountain Trail System.

Sharp bend ahead!

Coming up by the Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino.

The River Mountain Trail bike path next to the main line!

The bike path will cross the tracks again up ahead.

The second River Mountain Trail bike path crossing with Railroad Pass ahead!

Approaching the end of the line now over Railroad Pass.

The official "end of the line" with the US 93/95 paved over crossing ahead. Trains on this route don't go
past this point however this line is active and is run by Union Pacific west of the road crossing. The train
then goes back to Boulder City from here in "push" mode where the locomotive pushes the train.
