Night Photography At Amtrak's Albany-Rensselaer Station

If you've read my travelogues before, you know I love doing night photography because of the unique challenges it presents since every photo's individual lighting is different. I decided I wanted to get some night photos around the Albany-Rensselaer station as a friend of mine who works for Amtrak was going to head up to Buffalo Wild Wings with me when he arrived and was done with work so included here are some night photos taken around the station area, Enjoy...

The beautiful Albany skyline forms the background of this photo which also shows both the Lake Shore Limited Boston Section (the two P42's)
and the main Lake Shore Limited (the three Viewliners).

Among the improvements coming to the station here are the lengthened platforms as well as a 4th track that will be built on the right side
of this new platform extension that you see here.

Amtrak Train #49 - The Lake Shore Limited with GE P42DC #165 on the head end. Since the Boston Section of the train is operating only as a stub-train
from Boston to Albany, the normal Boston Sleeper is included with the two from New York so that the train still has its normal three sleeping cars.

Train #49 backs down Track #1 past the platform extension that is under construction and passing by Train #449 sitting on the Main Track. The
Main Track is the one currently closest to the station building itself. Track #1 is the middle track and Track #2 is in the far left of this photo.
Now let's head out to Stuyvesant, NY for some great railfanning on the Amtrak Hudson Line!
