Photos Taken Along The Route Of Amtrak's Coast Starlight
Follow the sign to your part of the train! I was in a sleeper so I walked to the left!

P42DC #153 leading today's northbound Coast Starlight seen at Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal.

Two view inside my Superliner Roomette. Amtrak markets the Starlight as a premiere train and thus there are a few added touches
to what is included in your room. Among other things, there were 2 glasses, a blanket and an Amtrak-embroidered toiletry bag.

Passing by Mission Tower outside Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal. The track immediately in front of the tower is the track that
the Sunset Limited uses to enter the station and the track behind it (the one with the bridge to the left of the tower) is the track that the
Southwest Chief uses to enter the station property. The bridge goes over the Los Angeles River.

Something you don't always see in the Los Angeles River...WATER!!!

Some very expensive real estate near Burbank!

The runway at Burbank Bob Hope Airport. The air was a bit foggy this morning!!!

Now in the mountains near Simi Valley.

Lots of farmland near Camarillo, CA.

Pumpkins, soon to be your kid's Jack-o'-lantern for Halloween and some to be dessert on Thanksgiving Day!

Solimar Beach near Ventura. The road in the foreground is the Pacific Coast Highway, a road I would become very
familiar with in my upcoming travels with a rental car later in the trip!

US Highway 101 which parallels the railroad a good distance.

The beach near Carpinteria, CA.

Now in Santa Barbara, CA, this is the road crossing for West Montecito Street.

Time for lunch! I had the Angus Steak Burger with bacon, kettle chips and the ever popular Diet Pepsi!

Mountains near Casmalia, CA.

Rounding the bend, through the mountains near Santa Maria, CA. Being in about the middle of the train
in the Pacific Parlour Car makes this view possible.

The sun is "trying" to peak through the clouds now!

Some happy California cows taking a break staring at those big mountains!!!

Passing many vineyards along the way getting close to San Luis Obispo.

Former Southern Pacific Bay-Window Caboose #101 on display at the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum near the Amtrak Station.

Passing by the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum in the Historic Railroad District.

The Coast Starlight taking a break at San Luis Obispo.

I like to caption photos like this by saying "Amtrak, may all your signals be green!!!"

Another view of the Coast Starlight at SLO.

Happy Trails Coast Starlight!!!

Amtrak's station at San Luis Obispo, a former Southern Pacific station.

Union Pacific EMD SD70ACe #8323 sitting at San Luis Obispo Station along with fellow SD70ACe #8348. These units are used
as pushers to get trains over the nearby Cuesta Grade if need be.

An old water tower across the tracks from the station in the Historic Railroad District.
