Built by Budd in 1950 for the Union Pacific Railroad, originally named "Pacific Range" and numbered 1434. The car was built as a 10 Roomette-6 Double Bedroom Sleeper. Conveyed to Amtrak in 1971 and renumbered 2627. Converted to Head-End Power from Steam Heat in July 1979 and renumbered 2883. The car operated on Amtrak's "Auto Train" until its eventual replacement with Superliner equipment in 1994. Purchased by its current owners Katy and Fred Gullette in 2010, it was remodeled into a Sleeper/Lounge car with 5 double bedrooms, 2 roomettes, general toilet, full kitchen, and lounge/dining areas. Historical Information about this car provided by AAPRCO and amtrakbythenumbers.com. |
