After spending part of the afternoon at Fairport, I drove back to Downtown Rochester and parked the car near the Center At High Falls and made the walk out onto the Platt Street Bridge over the Genesee River. Once I found a good spot, I set up the camera and tripod and waited for the trains. My plan was to photograph Amtrak Empire Service Train #281 along with whatever freights would come by. My original hope was also to photograph Amtrak Empire Service Train #283 but due to a change in the weather and a late running train, I would only photograph #281 in Rochester. Upon leaving the High Falls, I drove out to the suburb of Gates to eat at a restaurant built inside a former New York Central station there but unfortunately it was closed. I continued the drive back to Buffalo and would photograph #283 there. Included here are some photos at the High Falls and of Train #283 at Buffalo-Depew Station on the way home. Until next time, when I'll be heading back out to Ohio to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad at my favorite amusement park on the planet, Happy Railfanning... |
