Amtrak's Superliner II Transition Sleeper Car Roster Photos
GENERAL: Amtrak's Double Level Crew Sleeping Cars for Long-Distance Trains that permit them due to their height.
TERRITORY: These cars can be seen running on long-distance trains out West as well as on the Capitol Limited & Auto Train in the East. Due to their higher clearance requirements, these cars never run on trains originating from or heading to New York.
NOTES: Amtrak only received one order of these cars as part of the Superliner II delivery, thus all of these cars were built by Bombardier. They provide a low-level diaphragm on one end of the car so as to provide the crew access to the Baggage Car. The other end has a high-level diaphragm so as to connect with the rest of the train. On several trains, space in these cars that isn't used by the crew is being sold as revenue sleeper space since the entire upper level of the car is set up as regular roomettes.
