Built by General Electric Transportation Systems in February 1998 and numbered 714. This series of locomotives (a total of 18 would be built) were built to replace the EMD FL9's. These "Dual-Mode" units were built to operate on diesel power above-ground and on third-rail electric power when in the tunnels going into New York's Penn Station.
