GENERAL: Amtrak's original coaches from its start in 1971.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: These cars were given to Amtrak at its start back in 1971 and came from several railroads. Their ultimate replacement on most Long-Distance trains came about over a period of several years with the delivery of Amfleet I and Amfleet II Coaches as well as Superliners out West.
