Built by Siemens Mobility in Sacramento, CA in February 2014, these locomotives are the replacement for Amtrak's AEM-7 electric locomotives for use on the Northeast Corridor. A total of 70 of these units are either in service or on order. The name "ACS-64" means "Amtrak Cities Sprinter" and the 64 represents 6.4 megawatts of electric power which is equivalent to 8600 horsepower.
