New York City/Boston To Chicago



Amtrak Train #449 - The Lake Shore Limited - Boston Section takes a break at Springfield, MA with P42DC #178 leading, at Albany-Rensselaer, this train will combine with Train #49 from New York and run to Chicago as one train. The train is seen on September 30th, 2004.
Amtrak Train #49 is shown here in the coach yards backing out of Union Staiton in Chicago, IL for servicing and turning as this train will become tonight's Train #48 bound for New York & Boston. This photo was taken from the Roosevelt Avenue overpass on September 27th, 2004.
Amtrak Train #49 now arriving at Buffalo-Depew Station at 11:55pm on September 23rd, 2004. This night photo was taken using Kodak Ektachrome E100VS Pro 35mm Slide Film, a Pentax ZX-M Camera w/28mm Wide-Angle Vivitar lens exposed at f5.6 for about 8 seconds. A tripod and cable release are essential to getting a decent night photo to avoid shaking the camera!
Arriving into the Albany-Rensselaer Station is Train #49 with P32AC-DM #705 on the lead on August 5th, 2003. P32's bring the New York Section of the Lake Shore Limited up from New York and cut off in Albany where the Boston Section now ties onto the front end of the New York Section for the trip to Chicago.
Amtrak P42DC #205 leads the Lake Shore Limited into Schenectady, NY on April 23rd, 2003.
Amtrak P32AC-DM #704 leads the New York Section of the Lake Shore into Albany-Rensselaer Station on July 24th, 2000. This locomotive would be cut off in Albany and replaced by the power that brought the Boston Section of the train into Albany before heading West.
