Built by Budd in 1957 for the Northern Pacific and initially numbered 462, it was later renumbered 458. Conveyed to Amtrak in 1971 and renumbered 8045. Converted to Head-End Power from Steam Heat in January 1980 and renumbered 8505. The car now sports the green and pink Timoinsa Interior.
