Built by Pullman-Standard in 1949 for the Norfolk & Western Railway, this car was one of ten 58 seat Coaches for famous N&W trains "The Powhatan Arrow" and "The Pocahontas". This car operated between Cincinnati, OH and Norfolk, VA until the N&W ended passenger service in 1971. The car also operated on commuter trains in Chicago then retired and stored until 1982 when it was selected for Norfolk Southern's original Steam Program. Conveyed to the Watauga Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society in 1992 from Norfolk Southern, completely restored and named "The Powhatan Arrow" and given the number WATX 539.
