Built in 1954 by Pullman-Standard for the Florida East Coast Railroad and named "St. Augustine". Sold to the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1965. Conveyed to Amtrak in 1971 and numbered 5474 and retired in 1979. The car was sold by Amtrak in 1981 to a tourist railroad in Virginia. The Watauga Valley Chapter fo the National Railway Historical Society purchased the car in 1986 and completely restored the car to Amtrak standards and painted the car with a blue windowband and letterboards and named the car "Clinchfield". It was also assigned reporting marks "WATX 500". Restored to its original railroad and paint scheme in 2013, and renamed back ot its original "St. Augusitne" name by the Watauga Valley Railroad Historical Society and Museum. On a personal note: In 1991, I rode in this car on my very first mainline steam excursion behind Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 Locomotive #1218!   Although it's been over 23 years (Does that make me old?), I still remember sitting in this car on my ride behind N&W #1218, I distinctly remember the nice blue interior of this car and that was a train excursion I'll never forget!
