Ambroid Wood Craftsman Kits

The O-Kits and their Prototypes

Ambroid made a call for votes in June 1955, when they placed an ad asking modelers to vote for three Ambroid kits they would like to see in "O-Gauge" (using their terminology). Ambroid was considering at the time to make more O-Gauge kits but would first like to know if there was enough interest in the Ambroid line of kits. The call for the public opinion was repeated in June 1967, when Ambroid in an ad asked for a simple "Yes" or "No" vote for the introduction limited-run O-gauge kits comparable to the popular "1 of 5,000" HO gauge kits. This time the company also asked for a price range that the modelers thought would be acceptable.

In February 1975 the 0-18 kit was advertised as the 12th kit in the 0-scale Heritage Line. This would indicate that 0-7 may have been the first kit in this series. 0-6 was only released in H0 scale according to the same ad and no information is available for kits 0-1 through 0-5.
