City of Los Angeles, 16th Train, 1950Observation-Lounge - "Sun Valley"Pullman-Standard delivered two Observation-Lounge cars to UP in 1939. The "Sun Valley" (also numbered LA-901) was used in the COLA 7th and the "Nob Hill" (SF-901) in the COSF 8th train when first delivered. They were later renumbered 1575 and 1576, respectively, for use in the City of Denver (COD) train. COLA 16The car in the COLA 16th train was the "Sun Valley". The car was transferred from the COLA 7th train. The car still wore the "CITY OF LOS ANGELES" lettering in 1950. Available ModelsWhile there are a few "generic" UP Streamliner Observation Cars on the market, I have only found one that claims to be a model of the "Nob Hill"/"Sun Valley" prototype:
"Generic" Cars Here are some observation cars sold in the UP Streamliner colors, but not being models of the "Nob Hill"/"Sun Valley" cars.
My ModelI have the Coachyard "Sun Valley" model. It depicts the Sun Valley as it was delivered, without the aluminum strips, so some modification will probably have to be done.
