City of Los Angeles, 16th Train, 1950
E8B - First B-unit
EMD delivered, in addition to the five E8A units that were delivered in 1950, five
booster (or B-) units the same year. These units were numbered 926B through 930B. These engines
weighed in with a hefty 333,400 pounds each.
COLA 16
It is difficult to determine the exact unit number for any of the locomotives in this train so I
let the available numbers on the models from BLI determine what numbers to use here, and thus 929B
became the number of the first B-unit.
Models
The B-unit models I will list are the companion models to the A-units. These also come in all stages from
the mediocre to the extreme, but I let the budget control what I list.

My Model
I have the BLI road number 929B for this engine. The
model needs some paint adjustments. The ends are gray and should be Yellow/Gray with a
red stripe like the sides. The trucks are aluminum and should be gray. The side
lettering is correct, however.
