August 7, 1954, Last Run of the Altoona and Logan Valley
Electric Railway. Altoona area residents, David Seidel included, boarding
excursion cars at the corner of 12th Avenue and 11th Street in downtown,
Altoona. This corner at that time was the central pickup point and place to
transfer routes. The old A&LVERy office was opposite where photographer is
standing. |

the county seat. Lakemont Park had its origins with the trolley line predecessor
company as a place for area residents to travel to for entertainment. The

a 1946 Walter Snow Fighter. This truck was restored in 1998 by the Horseshoe
Curve Chapter, National Railway Historical Society. Truck has a nose plow, and a

Altoona & Logan Valley Electric Railway service truck No.
18 re-visiting the old car barn May, 1999 enroute to Altoona sesquicentennial
parade. This truck, a 1946 Walter Snow Fighter is now owned by the Horseshoe
Curve Chapter, National Railway Historical Society. The car barn building in the
background has been converted to a bus garage for Altoona Metropolitan Transit
Authority (AMTRAN). The structure is original but is now a flat-roof building
rather than a peaked open air building. The triangle building sign is also
