The Old National Capital Trolley Museum vs

The Old National Capital Trolley Museum vs. the New National Capital Trolley Museum:

My Washington-Lancaster trip in 2010 allowed me to visit the National Capital Trolley Museum since it relocated up a hill as a result of the Intercity Connector Highway being built through the area. This page shows the changes that the highway has forced upon NCTM.

First we see the area near a fire hydrant that unfortunately was used on September 28, 2003 when a fire destroyed one of NCTM’s car barns and seven of their streetcars. This was taken on my Washington-Cleveland trip in 2007.

The next photo shows a similar view that would have been to the right of the previous photo.

The next photo shows the car barn that didn’t burn in 2003. I also took that photo in 2007.

The ICC highway now goes over the site of the carbarn as seen here.

The next two photo show former Toronto PCC #4603 at the old visitors centre and the passing siding. The first photo is from my first visit in 1999 and the second photo is from 2007.

The next photo shows the area now. The lake is approximately where the old visitors centre was. The loop at the right hand corner is around where the passing siding was.

The next two views are of PCC 4603 at the new NCTM visitors centre. This area had nothing before NCTM moved.

This concludes the comparison. For some more views of NCTM in 1999 including some of the cars destroyed in the 2003 fire, see my Washington-Cleveland trip.
