VIA’s Chaleur March 25-27:

 

            This is the equipment that was in my Chaleur on March 25-27.

 

First is F40PH-2 #6418. This led the train from Matapedia to New Carlisle where the train was terminated.

 

 

            The first car was #8618. This car is a former Union Pacific RPO that was rebuilt into a baggage car.

 

 

            This is coach 8124. This car and everything in back of it was ex CP equipment. I rode this coach from Montreal to New Carlisle.

 

 

            Next is Skyline #8507. The view is great here. This was one of two Skylines that were leased to the D&H for use on the Adirondack for a time.

 

 

            Chateau Brule was the first of two sleeping cars on the train.

 

 

            Chateau Montcalm was the second car on the Chaleur. I rode in this car from New Carlisle to Montreal.

 

 

            The consist of 1 locomotive and five coaches is the absolute smallest the Chaleur gets.
