Prince William Boy Scout
Troop #964 Train Show
Each year the Piedmont Railroaders join with the two other HO Scale module groups in the area to support the annual fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 964 in Prince William County Virginia. The four groups; Piedmont Railroaders, Potomac Module Crew, Prince William County Model Railroad Club and the Scouts present a layout consisting of over 110 modules. With the use of Digitrax Digital Command and Control, individual engineers follow their trains around the double tracked loop controling their speed as they go. They must be careful not to run into the train up ahead as each train can travel at a drfferent speed. The element that makes this possible is the utilization of DCC. Up to 20 trains have been operated simultaneously on the 10 scale miles of mainline track. Some of the turnouts to the numerous sidings are also controled by the same DCC system via under the table switch machines.
