In June of 2012, Website partner Jim Otto got the chance to ride along with the Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad, owners of a Jordan 2-200. This machine, formerly the Delaware and Hudson 35056, built in 1956, serial number 1156. CACV uses this machine fairly often for keeping there own right of way clear. Below are photos of one such trip.
Brian Panaro inspecting the spreader prior to our morning departure.
A view of the main wing brace and carry wing brace.
C&CV's trackmobile on the back coupler, ready to shove the spreader out onto the main.
Alco S4 used on our ditching excursion.
Brian Panaro at the controls. They used only one wing at a time, as there wasn't enough crew to operate and spot both sides.
Back of the wings as they were opened up to begin spreading.
Adjusting the wings.
A Jordan Spreader can take down a good sized tree . . . this one decided to fall the wrong way, across the back deck.
Get out the chain saws.
Only took a few minutes to cut it up, and we were back to ditching.
The best view.
Afternoon, and the Jordan is put back on it's siding.
