I spent the first 13 years of my life in Mountain State, and return there as often as I can. Beyond my family (the main reason I go back), I love the scenery, the fishing, and most of all the railroads. Railroading in West Virginia is very elemental. Much has remained unchanged over the last 100 years, as getting coal out of the state over its steep mountains and narrow valleys is still the focus.
