Post La Plata Spring 2014 Railfan Event and Trip Home Part 1

by Chris Guenzler

4/10/2014 I woke up and took breakfast out to the Chris Guenzler Million Mile Lookout Point and uploaded yesterday's story and had three eastbound trains while I was there. I returned, finished breakfast and after checking things on-line, met Christy Walker and we drove out to Kenwood Road grade crossing.

BNSF 7019 East. From here we moved west to the Clemson Lane grade crossing.

The BNSF track inspector passed our location.

BNSF 5345 East. I learned an important lesson here, always make sure your camera is turned on. That is what happened with the two first pictures in this grouping.

Amtrak's Southwest Chief Train 4 came through next.

BNSF 4783 East. We returned to the Depot Inn & Suites where I did my wash and worked on the story of what we just had done before relaxing the rest of this afternoon. Christy and I went to Hardee's to get dinner and pick up food for Winston who has not been feeling too well the last two days. At 7:00 PM I filled the car with petrol for the last time, then drove Winston and Christy to the Amtrak station and helped them board the ten-minute late Southwest Chief. I returned to the hotel for the night and took a sauna bath in the Pullman Suites before calling it a night.
