The NRHS Pocono Express 6/24/2010

I had another breakfast of a waffle and crispy bacon before returning to my room to check the Internet. At 7:00 AM, I went down to the boarding area and found some of my close friends, whom I joined. The train was late to arrive again and the usual two doors opened for coarch boarding.

This train had a consist of RS-3s 4118, 4013 and 4068, Lehigh Valley observation car 353, Nickel Plate Road 211 "City of Lima", Central of New Jersey combine 303, Central of New Jersey coaches 1126 and 1157, Delaware, Lackawanna and Western coach 550, 589, Central of New Jersey coach 1152 and Delaware, Lackawanna and Western coach 335. I sat in DL&W 335 in front of Bart Jennings who opened all the windows in the car. Once everyone was aboard and all orders going, we departed Scranton for the Delaware Water Gap.





The train climbed the grade out of Scranton running through Nay Aug Park before proceeding through Nay Aug Tunnel. East of the tunnel, we detrained for the first photo runby of the day.

Here we found Canadian National 2-8-2 3254 which would pull us back to Scranton later.

The Delaware, Lackawanna and Western East Stroudsburg station, built in 1864, was in pretty bad shape after a fire the year before. We continued to the Delaware River.

This is as far as our trip went. We waited for Canadian National 3254 to reverse to our location, as well as the RS-3s to run around the train, before our trip to Scranton could commence.
